I like Eleanor`s tam o` shanter - it`s very patriotic - but if Julie were to knit us all fascinators that would be good.

I have arranged for Lyn to see a hypnotherapist for her "cutting" instincts - we simply can`t go on as we are, living in fear of what she`s going to cut next. Trimming all the Guardsmen`s bearskins really was the last straw.

Fascinators are so last year. Anyhow, we are fascinating enough. I can see us now at Zara's wedding: an assortment of elegant women wearing gorgeous head gear (yes Jean, my Tam o Shanter!) ,not so tight 3 ply thongs under our knitted outfits (just hope that it doesn't rain after that disgraceful exhibition by Jean and Doreen on Blackpool beach when wearing Julie's hand knitted bikinis); one parrot and a snake. Whatever has happened to our horse Neddy? Who has got him know? Last I heard, Doreen was using him to pull a cart when she went to market. Local council kicked up a fuss when she was going round the doors selling his poo and stinking whole areas with the manure smell.

Are we sailing round to Edinburgh? Do you think that the state rooms will be ready for us yet? Will we be able to berth the boat in the evenings so that we can visit the seaside hostelries on route for research purposes?

Thank heavens that Lynn is in for counselling, please be to goodness that it is successful.

Neddy is spending his retirement in my back garden.
I have a nice little earner going on with him.

I'm afraid Lyn's hypnotherapy has backfired on us........she now is convinced she's a hairdresser so no-one is safe from her scissors!Scared

Oh, I`m not sure if the staterooms will be ready - we`ll just have to hope for the best. It should be fun sailing to Edinburgh, we can moor or dock or whatever you do at Leith I should think.

We`ll have to decide on a flag - most ships seem to fly one, and we need to give Julie time to get one knitted. She`s going to be very busy, isn`t she? Have you all got your hats for Zara`s do? I see the reception`s to be at Holyrood - Eleanor, do you know some good hostelries on the Royal Mile?

I`m sure we`ll all have a great time. I just hope Sheila doesn`t fire those cannons at the wrong time. Or in the wrong direction either - I hope she knows her starboard from her port. Talking of port, is Amanda in charge of the wine?

Must go now - I need to clean up the lighthouse hat. Doreen didn`t fasten Neddy securely and he gave it a very close inspection.

How could you?? HOW COULD YOU?? I only found out what had been going on when I read the papers this morning. The sight of Doreen, hanging upside down from the centre stone at Stonehenge, was just too much - especially as she had gone commando. There are ways to celebrate the Summer Solstice, and this very definitely was not one of them. And as for the rest of you - dancing naked round the stones - it quite shocked me and I am having to have a lie down, a slice of cake and a bottle of Pernod. As for Sheila and those blasted cannons - I just don't understand how anyone can wreck Stonehenge with just one ball, but she managed it. It has cost me thousands getting you all bailed out and I won't do it again. If things do not improve before the wedding, I wil not be attending.

Oh yes - I picked Dor's tea trolley up from the body shop yesterday and they've done a great job on it. It's been bent back into shape and bedecked with bells so we'll all know where she is.

Ah.....Jean's woken up, but I see she's already started on the booze again.

Jean, it's no use getting annoyed at us because you missed the celebrations at Stone henge. No-one forced you to dtart drinking so early, which made you sleep through the solstice. You did look a sight draped over that stone....don't talk about me going commando.....we just carried on and danced around you.

It was a shame about Sheila and the cannon, but I think the stones look better in a heap rather than a circle.

I'm thrilled you found my tea trolley, you know I can't do without my cups of tea.

I am afraid my mail box is full of letters complaining about the cannonballs. I was only trying to knock Doreen off the stone to save her embarrassment. I have been practising at the driving range but they will only let me use golf balls so it is difficult. I am trying!!!!!!!!! But...good news girls. I have had a letter from HRH P of W who will be delighted to see us off on our voyage. He does have a few conditions but none we can't overcome. He does insist on bunting - you know what he's like! - Poor Julie! Does she have time to knit them as well as all the sailor suits etc? P of W did say Camilla would help but apparently she drops stitches all the time. I think we will all have to join in. There will be a lot of flags from Westminster Bridge to the Arctic Circle! I thought green and orange might be nice. They would blend in well with the northern lights (or as I call them the Aurora borealis) Sorry! It's my Oxbridge education! I can't help it. William and Harry are going to help with the stringing up of the bunting. Harry will bring the helicopter and winch William down. (I didn't think any of us would manage a ladder! but Jean, she can't even manage a straight line.) Harry does insist on fancy dress so I said we would think about that as we don't want to upset Julie by not wearing the sailor suits she has so lovingly knitted for us. Kate will help with the teas but only if Eleanor is ok with that. We don't want any old commoner touching those famous cakes now, do we? There is good news on the counting front too. Lynn is up to 15 now so by the time we set sail she should be able to help with the 21 gun salute and who knows ..her aim might be as good as mine if not better.

I think that Julie's knitted sailor suits will be fancy enough even for HRH's! I am sure that the bunting will be ready in time as Julie seems to have magical fingers when it comes to needles and pins (or should I say pins and needles which is what most of us are so very familiar with)!. The clours are fine by me, the more psychedelic the better after my cake!

There is no way that C is dishing out my cake! Doreen would be most disappointed if she did not have that honour! I am most relieved that the tea trolley is repaired and well bedecked with bells as she does get very excited with her job. Running it under the wheels of that bus on Trafalger Square was not a great plan!

So Neddy is with Doreen! ThumpUp Glad that we didn't lose him but sorry that it isn't someone with more sense! Hope that your lighthouse hat cleans up Kathleen in time for the wedding. Wouldn't be the same without a guiding light to steer us homewards (to the Arc Royal) after the wedding celebrations.

What are you on about Jean? My memory, which usually serves me well, tells me that you were dancing around the stones at Stonehenge with the rest of us. You may say that you were clothed as you had a bandage on your leg but come on!!!! Laugh As for the thousands of pounds in fines! That was payed from the cash given to us to cover up, I should know as I was holding out the Tam o Shanter collecting it! Blushing

And, by the way, where did you get the pernod from? It isn't the bottle that Kathleen and I were missing from our stock on the last beano when Amanda and Barbara weren't around to be in charge of it? Razz I drink the pernod except when you lot get your hands on it!!! Sad Has anyone located our missing pair by the way? Last that I heard, Barbara was on a mission in India to establish where we should travel to for some peace and perhaps a cure with Amanda locating the best wines.Confused

Cannon balls are such a unique way of showing that we have arrived in port or where ever. Very nautical and discrete. Must ensure that Sheila has some targetting practise though.Wub As for Lyn and scissors. Please tell me that she is not still cutting hair Kathleen? Confused ThumbDown Sad I am depending on you to have her cured once and for all. Huh

ThumpUp Hi girls!!!!!!!I think I can solve the mystery about the whereabouts of Amanda and Barbara.BigGrin As I was travelling in a northerly direction in Bond Street, I caught sight of 2 women running, yes running!!Scared towards the castle (that's the elephant and castle) and guess what? It was Amanda and Barbara followed by Kathleen in hot pursuit on Neddy!!!! Neigh, neigh, I hear you cry. They were armed with shopping bags.(that's Amanda and Barbara) I know they had been for their outfits for the wedding as they had just come out of Primark. Thank goodness for Kathleen. She takes her job of looking after us all very seriously indeed. The last I heard they had been apprehended near the lion at Trafalgar Square (that's the red lion) by Jean who was worse for wear as she had just tried to mount Neddy whilst Kathleen was still on him. (Of course she had been in the pub since opening time, which didn't help.) Patience Jean, patience. As we speak all 4 of them along with Neddy are on their way back home. I hope Julie is at home knitting her little heart out. (switch off the tennis Julie. You haven't got time for that.) You will be pleased to know that while I was at the palace this morning Phil said I could practise with the cannons as long as I kept the b..... noise down. Well, you know me, never one to miss an opportunity. What a great view from that balcony. In fact, there is an even better view now. I must say it was worth the practise. I did make one or two mistakes but no-one liked the London eye anyway and that gherkin well, out of sight out of mind. Come on Lyn, nearly there 16,17,18!

Right-ho me hearties, are we all ready for our maiden voyage? It will soon be Zara`s wedding, so we need to be ship-shape and ready to sail.

I`ve spent the last two weeks in sunny Portugal, and managed to bring home several bottles of cheap wine and some port for the celebrations. Also, I found a lot of cheap bunting going spare in the market, which we can use to decorate the ship. The flags are all Portuguese, but it shouldn`t matter - if Sheila`s cannonballs go astray the police will assume it`s the Portuguese who are to blame, and we should probably get away with it.

I have it on good authority that Lyn`s penchant for cutting everything in sight is proving difficult to cure, but nil desperandum as they say.

I`m not sure how Neddy will take to sea travel, but we can`t very well leave him behind, as he`s become very attached to Doreen, and I hear Julie has knitted him a lovely blanket. Jean says the colour is a bit garish, but I think it will be OK, and at least he`ll be easily spotted in the dark if we`re out pub-crawling - sorry, I meant sight-seeing of an evening.

Is the cake ready Eleanor? I do hope so, as Sheila is looking forward to trying a slice.

Ahoy, shipmates!!

Talking dog! Confused What is this about a talking dog?Scared What next is to be sent to worry me?Confused

We have Lyn now thinking that she is a hairdresser, Neddy suffering from seasickness, Julie and her climbing, Sheila and her cannon balls (although I agree that the gherkin is best gone), DOREEN who is just Doreen, then Jean and her thong and glittery bits (the shame of it)

We just need , Amanda and Barbara who are still missing after our last adventure: I thank goodness for myself and Kathleen who act with sense and decorum. Smile RollEyes Blink

The cake is ready and locked away with Kathleen holding the key. Sad Kathleen is also in charge of the pernod and fine malt to keep it safe (from Doreen and Jean) while she has purchased Portugal's finest wines for the rest of you. Smile ThumpUp

The bunting will be fine when Kathleen gets out her needle and thread and Doreen puts it through the washing machine.

All we need now is the date for the festivities to begin and we can set sail. ThumpUp
